While many Breitling fans do not necessarily find themselves in the new designs of the brand, the watchmaker has just announced a reissue - almost identical - of his famous 1959 chrono which at the time, made the happiness of the drivers line. This Navitimer Ref. 806 1959 Re-Edition is equipped with a 40.9 mm steel case, waterproof 30 meters and carrying a hand-wound "house" caliber. Note that this limited edition is the first that announces other launches in the weeks and months to come.
In 1952, Breitling developed the Navitimer, a chronograph quickly becoming a must-have in cockpits, thanks to the presence of the innovative circular slide rule that allowed them to perform all the necessary measurements and conversions in flight.
Breitling has just announced the release of its first reissue, with further launches planned for the future. The Navitimer Ref. 806 1959 Re-Edition is a chronograph reproducing - almost in every detail - the aesthetic codes of one of the most admired first Navitimer, the Breitling Ref. 806, featuring a fully black dial with tone-on-tone counters and a beaded rotating bezel. It will be produced only 1959 copies all numbered and engraved on the bottom of the case.
This reissue has been designed to recreate every detail of the design of the Navitimer from 1959. Like its ancestor, it has an all-black dial with tone-on-tone counters, and incorporates one of the distinctive elements of the Ref. 806 of origin: namely that the dial is embellished with a Breitling lettering in capital letters and the famous winged logo.

Few people know that this winged logo was used for the European market, while the watches sold in the US sported the same logo with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) signature.
This chrono tricompax has a beaded rotating bezel consisting very precisely of 94 beads, the same number as the model of 1959. During the production period of the Navitimer Ref. 806 of origin, the number of pearls (small landmarks bordering the bezel) has indeed varied between 125 in the early 1950s and 93 in 1960. This detail may seem minor, but it is important to the eyes of fans of historical watches.
The 40.9 mm steel case was also developed specifically for the Navitimer Ref. 806 1959 Re-Edition, with the same horns and the same finishes as Ref. 806 of origin. Its famous circular slide rule under the curved acrylic glass and shaped like the original will be familiar to all Navitimer enthusiasts. The only improvements due to the modernity concern the waterproofing, which now reaches 3 bars (30 meters) and Superluminova coating which is here a vintage look as the entire dial by the way.
An entirely new movement (manual winding) was developed to respect the original caliber equipping the Navitimer of the beginnings (70 hours of power reserve). The Manufactured Breitling B09 mechanical caliber developed internally (with column wheel) is inspired by the famous Manufacture Breitling 01 caliber of the brand and is a COSC certified chronometer. This movement will animate many of the other historical re-releases with manual winding to come. This chronograph is equipped with a vintage-inspired black leather strap.
A nice reissue that will please fans of the brand with a predilection for vintage pieces Breitling. On the other hand, not sure that the collectors - those who own the original part - are delighted with this almost identical output. Reference: AB0910371B1X1
